There are people who serve our community, that in many
ways, we take for granted. We assume
they will always be there when we need them.
The individuals in the Winnipeg Police Service are these kinds of
people. They are not only professionals
in our community; they are also neighbours, relations, and friends. We know they have a life in the community
outside of being a police person.
The
Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg has decided to recognize police persons who have done
exemplary community service through volunteering in the community. On November 9, 2012, we will be hosting the
first annual Top Cop Community Volunteer Gala.
This will be an opportunity for Winnipeg to celebrate and honour police
personnel that are nominated by the community for their volunteer work, and to
showcase the people we rely on every day to ensure the safety of our
city.
We
are inviting nominations for Top Cop Community Volunteer from the community. A community committee, comprised of representatives
from the Police Service, Kiwanis, and the community will consider the
applications received, and decide on the winner from amongst three
finalists. The three finalists will be
presented at the gala dinner, and the winning Top Cop Community Volunteer will
be announced.
All are welcome to be
part of the celebration on November 9th…all you need to do is purchase a ticket
to the event and to join us at the Fairmont for the festivities.
